THE TEAM

Join our database team and become an integral core member of a group supporting the world’s largest ticketing system. We are on a journey to build a set of new generation database tools to build, manage and operate various databases with an “infrastructure as code” mindset. We use various database RDBMS and NoSQL technologies. We support multiple databases platforms – running on both private and public cloud infrastructure – powering the world’s largest ticketing system and serving 170M customers. THE JOB

We are looking for a proactive and capable Oracle DBA to join our team and support a major greenfield migration project. You will work under the guidance of the Lead Oracle DBA to help transition critical systems from legacy databases to Oracle. This is a hands-on role involving administration, procedure development, migration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning within a high-impact and collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in Oracle database administration, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for solving complex problems. You will be a key technical contributor working on a highly desirable project and have the opportunity to grow your skills in database modernisation, replication, and automation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Collaborate with the Lead Migration DBA to deliver a smooth and secure database migration.
  • Support schema conversion, data mapping, and stored procedure optimisation efforts.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of database migration tasks.
  • Assist with performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting Oracle databases.
  • Help design and implement efficient data migration processes.
  • Contribute to replication strategies and ensure data consistency across environments.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation related to database configurations and migrations.
  • Engage with application and infrastructure teams to ensure integration and alignment.
  • Follow and help enforce best practices around security, backup, and recovery.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for automation and streamlining of manual processes.
  • Support the implementation of monitoring tools and proactive alerting mechanisms.
  • Stay updated on Oracle features and propose enhancements where applicable.
  • Support our existing Oracle database stack.
  • Take part in 1 in 4 on-call rota 9am – 5pm GMT only.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Proven years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle installation, configuration, backup/recovery, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Experience in supporting database migration or upgrade projects.
  • Familiarity with Oracle replication technologies – GoldenGate, Data Guard.
  • Working knowledge of schema design, stored procedures, and query optimisation.
  • Understanding of database security practices and access control.
  • Exposure to other RDBMSs such as SQL Server.
  • Comfortable working with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Ability to document processes clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices is an advantage.
