[Hiring] Data Scientist, Energy/Air Quality at (LDES Council)

📋 Description

• Conduct fast-paced quantitative analyses in response to pollution episodes, energy market developments and other policy-relevant events, identifying impactful and policy-relevant findings. • Integrate, clean and analyse diverse proprietary, in-house and open datasets. • Produce reproducible code, robust methodology documentation, and reusable datasets. • Develop clear and effective data visualisations that communicate analytical insights. • Support research by combining quantitative analysis with domain expertise and desk research. • Develop new datasets, analytical tools and data products to strengthen CREA’s research capabilities. • Work closely with colleagues to shape research questions and identify the most important analytical findings. • Contribute to reports, briefings and other research outputs by ensuring analyses are robust, transparent and reproducible.

🎯 Requirements

• Higher education or equivalent professional experience in data science, economics, engineering, statistics, computer science, energy systems or a related quantitative discipline. • At least 3 years of experience analysing large and complex datasets in a research, consulting, public policy, or commercial environment. • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, reproducible and robustly documented quantitative analyses, including using AI tools. • Experience creating effective charts and data visualisations for technical and non-technical audiences. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on open-ended research questions. • Strong programming skills in Python or R and at least basic knowledge of both. • Basic command of version control (e.g. Git). • Good written and spoken English.
