Job Description

Description

Your team dynamics:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Data Analyst to join our Information Architecture and Analytics team. In this role, you will serve as a strategic link between our key business processes, operational source systems, and the enterprise data warehouse ecosystem.

As a Business Intelligence Data Analyst, you will focus on data profiling, solution architecture design, impact analysis, and implementation management. You will primarily work in a largely Microsoft-based environment, including on-premises SQL servers, SSIS, SSAS, databases and data lakes in the Azure cloud, as well as Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. While specialized data engineers will handle the pipeline behind the scenes and migration development, you will design blueprints, write technical documentation, write analytical SQL queries, create semantic models and Power BI reports for business users, and lead the engineering team throughout the implementation.

Your day at a glance:

Data warehouse solution design and technical supervision

  • Perform in-depth data profiling and analyze the characteristics, patterns, and architecture of source systems to design target implementations for our enterprise data warehouse ecosystem.
  • Write comprehensive technical documents, including entity-relationship diagrams (DERs), source-target mappings, data traceability documentation, and functional specifications.
  • Collaborating with a team of data engineers to ensure that data store additions, ETL models, and designed batch integrations are implemented accurately and according to plan.

Power BI, semantic modeling, and operational support

  • Develop, maintain and optimize robust, enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and Microsoft Fabric semantic models (including DAX calculations, relationships and security policies).
  • Profile and inspect data using SQL SELECT queries on on-premises databases and Azure/Fabric SQL analytics endpoints to guide engineering decisions and validate data quality.
  • Analyze, coordinate and execute targeted data cleansing initiatives as well as bulk data update operations within operational systems, as needed.
  • Manage complex requests for ad-hoc data extraction and analysis to support decision-making at the management and departmental levels.

Analysis of business processes and management of downstream impacts

  • Analyze constantly evolving business processes to determine their structural impact on our entire reporting and data ecosystem.
  • Conduct proactive impact analyses when the behavior of source systems, application patterns or structures change, identifying downstream reports, business processes and key stakeholders affected.
  • Ensure cross-functional coordination with data analysts and data engineers to prioritize, execute, and validate corrective actions required for all affected pipelines and reports.

Batch integrations and IT solutions consulting

  • Analyze, design and prepare technical integration documentation for batch integrations between operational systems, overseeing the execution of data engineering tasks.
  • Collaborating with internal IT application and infrastructure teams during the design phase of new software solutions, providing analyses to flag background designs or schemas that violate best practices in data modeling.
  • Lead the analytical planning, design, validation and implementation of data migration projects during the introduction of new enterprise solutions, guiding data engineers throughout execution.

What makes you an excellent candidate:

  • 3 to 5 years or more of experience as a business intelligence analyst, business process analyst, data analyst, or in a similar role within an enterprise IT environment
  • Experience working in hybrid environments involving the migration of SQL/SSIS workloads to Microsoft Fabric or an Azure cloud architecture
  • Prior experience with formal frameworks for IT change management and project delivery
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related technical discipline
  • A Master’s degree or MBA is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written (this position requires interaction with our international colleagues and clients)

Your technical expertise:

  • Power BI and Microsoft Fabric: Hands-on experience developing semantic models, the DAX language, row-level security (RLS), and Power BI reports within a Fabric ecosystem
  • Relational databases and SQL: Advanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data profiling, source validation, and schema inspection on Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises and Azure)
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture: Technical understanding of Azure data lakes, SSAS tabular models, and SSIS/Fabric data integration models
  • Domain knowledge: Practical experience using essential business data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and operational systems.
  • Data modeling and systems design: Ability to create formal entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), data flow diagrams, and source-target mapping documentation.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management: Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of effectively managing business stakeholders and leading engineering teams throughout technical implementation.

This is what we offer!

  • Attractive compensation package
  • Training Expense Reimbursement Program
  • Work-life balance thanks to a flexible working schedule
  • Subsidized meals at our amazing Bistro (Les Cordons Bleus)
  • Unlimited free coffee and fruit
  • Free parking space for all employees
  • On-site fitness center with personal trainer, as well as several health and wellness workshops

  • Perform deep-dive data profiling and analyze source system characteristics, schemas, and architecture to design target implementations for our enterprise data warehouse ecosystem
  • Author comprehensive technical artifacts, including Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), source-to-target mapping, data lineage documentation, and functional specifications
  • Collaborate with a team of Data Engineers to ensure designed warehouse additions, ETL patterns, and batch integrations are implemented accurately and according to plan

Power BI, Semantic Modeling & Operational Support

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize robust, enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and Microsoft Fabric semantic models (including DAX calculations, relationships, and security policies)
